Question:
_________
.A dairy allergy is an abnormal immune response to the proteins found in milk and other dairy products. When someone with a dairy allergy eats dairy products, their immune system overreacts and produces antibodies called immunoglobulin E (IgE). These antibodies bind to the dairy proteins and trigger the release of histamine and other chemicals. Histamine causes the symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing, and anaphylaxis.
Gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance are not allergies. Gluten intolerance is a condition in which people have difficulty digesting gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. Lactose intolerance is a condition in which people have difficulty digesting lactose, the sugar found in milk and other dairy products.
